Recommended materials

• PAPER: For your pastel support Canson Mi-Tientes ‘Touch’’ (black) 350gsm pastel paper is highly recommended but not essential. If you have a favourite brand please select a dark back ground colour were possible please. I shall be working 20 x 22 inches approx so you have an idea of the size.

• PASTELS: Highly recommended Unison colour soft pastels in the following colours from The Moorland Set but if you don’t have these, and close equivalents are good to use too.

Grey 28, Additional 31, Additional 35, Yellow 8, Green 21, Dark 24, Blue Violet 12, Natural Earth 13, Natural Earth 7, Ocean Blue 11, Ocean Blue 10, Ocean Blue 4, Green 17, Orange 2, Grey 14, Blue Violet 6, Brown Earth 23, light 11.

Unison colour fixative highly recommended but if you don’t have this particular brand, and you have another, this will be ok.

• OTHER: Drawing board of firm support to clip or Sellotape your pastel support to. ***Print out your photograph reference on A4 GLOSS paper. Ordinary photo copier papers and the colours sink. Alternatively use an ipad or similar, leave it on lock (so the picture stays on permanently), enlarge the reference full screen after download and work from that.
